And why not share some joy this year - you can also use the app to create your own Advent Calendars to share with friends and family - more fun than the usual end-of-year email or letter!
Advent Calendars are a traditional fun pastime for the Advent period.
They are calendars that are used in the run up to Christmas day. On each day in December, from the 1st until the 24th, you open a door on the calendar to view a little picture and a message.
For this app, you have to find and press the number of the day - so on the 1st of December you have to find and press the number 1 located somewhere in the image. This will pop up the little picture and show the message. You dismiss the image by pressing on the done button at the top right of the image.
After you have opened the door in this way, a small copy of the picture will display on the main pciture where the door is located; you can view it again by pressing on it. You can open the doors even after the date has passed as long as it is still December. There is also a bonus door in the shape of a star that you can open at any time.
There are four styles of Advent Calendar available in this app: Religious (traditional Christian), Traditional (Dickensian Christmas theme), Kittens (cute kittens theme - there are no messages for this style), and Dogs and Puppies.
You can select the style you want to see from the the settings screen. You can switch between the styles by pressing one of the buttons on the settings tab. You can reset the doors for all the calendars by clicking on the reset button - but if December has passed this will mean that you wont be able to open the doors again until next December.
You can make your own advent calendars by choosing your own images and messages for the calendar doors and sharing the calendar by email with any friends or family that also have the app.
